Building Momentum

This year All Tech is Human spread its wings and begin to fly. We hosted four events in New York City, Seattle, and San Francisco and convened 420 technologists, academics, policy makers, advocates, and designers in conversations around thorny tech issues. We also created incredible partnerships with the United Nations Development Programme and TheBridge. Our open source participatory movement will inform and influence how technologies are developed and deployed as well as offer a way for every day citizens to get plugged into the thoughtful tech movement.

We have a tech problem.
We need a societal solution.

More important than changing the tech, is changing the PROCESS of how technology is developed and deployed. All Tech Is Human is an organization with an ambitious goal of altering the "politics of technology" by making it more inclusive, multidisciplinary, and participatory. 

We do this by convening events, promoting collaboration and knowledge-sharing, and gaining valuable insight into how we can better approach thorny tech/society issues (content moderation, misinformation, algorithmic bias, diversity in tech, inclusive design). 

Our community is made up of technologists, academics, advocates, policymakers, org leaders, students, artists, designers, and other interested parties aiming for a more thoughtful future towards technology.

How do we alter the process of how technology is developed and deployed? By being a crucial conduit that allows the free flow of information and insight between the public at large and industry, media, and policymakers. The public WANTS to offer insight & guidance and the industry, media, and policymakers are in dire need of this very guidance. Our open source participatory movement will inform and influence how technologies (that greatly impact the public) are developed and deployed, while also offering an accessible way for anyone to be plugged into the thoughtful tech movement.

We are putting on a total of four events in 2019, all sponsored by the Tech and Society Solutions Lab at Omidyar Network. Our events have been hosted by ThoughtWorks and Artefact (Seattle). We are also working on building resources that will elevate the conversation and lead to positive action.
