ALL TECH IS HUMAN TO HOST RESPONSIBLE TECH SUMMIT ON SEPTEMBER 15TH

All Tech Is Human to host the Responsible Tech Summit as a free online gathering for those committed to reducing the harms of technology, diversifying the tech pipeline, and ensuring that technology is aligned with the public interest.

For Immediate Release

New York, New York - All Tech Is Human is announcing a virtual Responsible Tech Summit on Wednesday, September 15th from 10:30am to 5pm EDT, with support from community partner TheBridge and underwritten by Avanade. This is a unique gathering of the large and diverse community dedicated to co-creating a better tech future. Given the complex challenges society faces around algorithmic fairness, data privacy, misinformation, and more, this is an important and timely gathering to surface solutions and promote collaboration across multiple groups. Registered attendees include representation from Salesforce, Deloitte, Facebook, Discord, Bumble, Grindr, Center for Humane Technology, Change.org, IEEE, World Economic Forum, Amazon, TikTok, Blizzard, and many more across civil society, government, and industry.

All Tech Is Human is a non-profit committed to building the Responsible Tech pipeline; making it more diverse, multidisciplinary, and aligned with the public interest. The Manhattan-based organization, founded in 2018, brings together a diverse community of people who are committed to building a better tech future and has a global audience filled with students, academics, startups, industry, policymakers, attorneys, sociologists, designers, artists, advocates, psychologists, and more. The thorny issues that tech currently faces require us to create a collaborative, multi-stakeholder approach with a variety of backgrounds. The organization’s flagship resource is its Responsible Tech Guide, which will have an updated version and website released to coincide with the upcoming summit. All Tech Is Human also runs a Responsible Tech Mentorship program, a Responsible Tech University Ambassadors program, a job board, and a large Slack group (over 1750 members) for the growing community.

The Responsible Tech Summit will take place virtually on the platform Hopin, and will provide numerous opportunities for networking over 90 minutes throughout the day along with connecting with attendees pre-event. The summit will feature presentations by representatives from five organizations -- Jenn Noinaj (Technologists for the Public Good / Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation), Max Beverton-Palmer (Director, Internet Policy Unit, Tony Blair Institute), United States of Tech, Justin Hendrix (Tech Policy Press), and Presidential Innovation Fellows.

There will also be four discussion panels, an assessment of the state of the Responsible Tech ecosystem from Rebekah Tweed (Program Director at All Tech Is Human), a reflection on learnings from the All Tech Is Human community from Dr. Karina Alexanyan (Founder/CEO at Humanication), and two personal journeys into Responsible Tech from Arushi Saxena (Product Marketing Manager, Misinformation and Civic Integrity at Twitter) and Pearlé Nwaezeigwe (Product Policy Manager Sub-Saharan Africa, TikTok).

The first of four panels will discuss Data Privacy and will feature Hessie Jones (Privacy Advocate, Venture Partner, Strategist), Tamra Moore (in house counsel, at the intersection of technology, law, and policy), Richard Whitt (founder & president of the GLIA Foundation), and moderator Joe Toscano (founder of BEACON, featured in the Social Dilemma).

The Road Ahead for Responsible Tech panel will feature Malcolm Glenn (Director of Public Affairs, Better.com / Senior Fellow, Center for Workforce Inclusion / Fellow, New America), Cassandra Madison (VP of Partnerships at the Tech Talent Project), Emma Leiken (Chief of Staff, Responsible Technology, Omidyar Network) and moderator Allie Brandenburger (co-founder & CEO of TheBridge).

The Responsible AI panel will be comprised of Ayodele Odubela (Data Science Career Coach & Responsible AI Educator), Phaedra Boinodiris (Trust in AI Business Transformation Leader at IBM) and Renata Barreto (VP of Legal, Regulation, and Ethics at Faucetworks), with moderator Chris McClean (Global Lead, Digital Ethics at Avanade).

Improving Digital Spaces is the final panel of the day, featuring Lisa Roman (Vice President, Public Policy and Social Impact at Bumble), Ayca Ariyoruk (Director of Global Partnerships and Communication at Soliya), [Lybra Clemons (Chief Diversity Officer, Twilio) and moderator Rey Allie (Head of Trust & Safety at IRL).

“While we face immense challenges with the complex issues that tech surfaces related to speech, equity, privacy, and even the continued success of democracy at large, I am heartened to see such a broad range of backgrounds dedicate their energy toward a better future. If we are going to move from the problem stage to the solution stage with tech, we are going to have to have a diverse range of talents involved in the process,” says All Tech Is Human’s founder & Executive Director, David Ryan Polgar.
