Volunteer Profile: Kat Lewis

In our new series, we are putting a spotlight on some of the incredible volunteers who are making an impact at All Tech Is Human and the larger Responsible Tech community. First up, let’s learn about Kat Lewis.

Kat believes powerful solutions to our world’s most wicked problems are possible at the juncture of empathy, emerging technology and innovation.

Through her time with the Partnership on AI, she got to know firsthand the important layer of safeguards that must also exist to protect human rights and mitigate harms. And, as a self-proclaimed global citizen, Kat is deeply committed to working collectively to ensure technology advancements benefit all, and not just a select few.

While in between full-time roles, Kat is undertaking research related to corporate incentives to commit to responsible technology development, diving deeper into emerging self-governance practices leading companies are adopting. This work grew out of her time overseeing industry partnerships with Google, DeepMind, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, IBM and others for global, multi-stakeholder nonprofit Partnership on AI.

Her previous professional accomplishments include overseeing corporate innovation programs with Fortune 500s for Singularity University, strategy consulting for early stage social ventures, directing media relations and digital marketing for global brands, public affairs efforts for the Red Cross, and being a social worker caring for vulnerable youth. She holds an MBA from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada, and B.A. in Psychology from Tulane University in New Orleans. Embracing a YOLO attitude, Kat has traveled extensively across 6 of 7 continents and 34 countries, and is constantly humbled by how beautiful the world and its people are.

We’re glad to have Kat as part of the team.
