Center for Humane Technology | Mobilization Director [Remote / San Francisco]

Center for Humane Technology is hiring a Mobilization Director based in San Francisco with remote options available, in a full-time role after a 90 day trial period.

You "will play a key role in strengthening an emerging humane technology ecosystem by leveraging CHT’s convening power, trusted network, and framing to strengthen the flows of talent, capital and insight into the ecosystem."

They’re seeking a candidate with 5+ years experience with the following: “building strategic partnerships that advance organizational objectives with a power and equity lens, ….community building, cultural change, and/or advancing new ideas within the technology industry or comparable environments...developing, executing, and hosting public and private events, and in program and project management,” among other things.

This position closes on August 27th.

Consumer Reports Digital Lab | Program Manager, Research [Yonkers, NY]

Consumer Reports Digital Lab is hiring a full-time Yonkers-based Program Manager, Research to “be a central figure helping turn an insight or hunch from a journalist or policy analyst into a research project that produces valid data and relevant conclusions.”

“The Consumer Reports Digital Lab undertakes a range of research activities on digital consumer protection topics, from privacy to deceptive ads to biased algorithms.”

“We are seeking a leader to manage the growing research portfolio of the Consumer Reports Digital Lab. This is a program management role for someone with a research background and a passion for digital rights.”

They’re looking for a candidate with “5+ years in a research role, academia or a technology-driven organization.”

TikTok | Outreach and Partnerships Manager, Mexico - Trust & Safety [Mountain View, CA]

TikTok is hiring a full-time Outreach and Partnerships Manager, Mexico to join the Trust & Safety team based in Mountain View, CA.

“We're looking for an Outreach and Partnerships Manager to advance our work in Mexico establishing strategic and synergistic relationships with key external stakeholders, to include academics, NGOs, and thought leaders.”

"The role will require you to build on your deep experience with Mexico, contemporary global media (e.g., video, literature, fine arts), and expression (e.g., journalism, communications, linguistics) to engage with external experts.”

“You will serve as an external ambassador for TikTok, and will be proficient in constituent outreach, building partnerships, and creating forums to inform policies, processes, and internal training. "

They’re looking for a candidate with at least “8 years in project management or strategic outreach experience…[and] [e]xperience studying or working in Mexico,” among other characteristics.

TikTok is hiring a full-time Outreach and Partnerships Manager, Misinformation, Integrity, and Authenticity to join the Trust & Safety team based in Mountain View, CA.

“We’re looking for an Outreach & Partnerships Manager to ensure that our policy development, community guidelines, and policy enforcement are informed by external experts and advisors with deep understanding of the spread and prevention of misinformation as it relates to online platforms.”

“You have an insatiable appetite for empowering online communities, an infallible dedication to user safety, and significant experience facilitating productive dialogue with internal teams and the users they seek to serve. You will serve as an external ambassador for TikTok, and will be proficient in constituent outreach, building partnerships, and creating forums to inform policies, processes, and internal training.”

This role requires “10+ years of experience in constituent outreach, community organizing, on-the-ground advocacy, education policy, child advocacy, or local partnerships experience,” and “5+ years of experience in working with topics related to misinformation, journalism, integrity, authenticity, deceptive online content, or other related domains.”

Facebook | Privacy Policy Manager [Menlo Park, CA / Washington, D.C.]

Facebook is hiring a full-time Privacy Policy Manager based in Menlo Park, CA or Washington, D.C., “with expertise in privacy and technology policy issues to join our Privacy and Data Policy team and help us build products, services, and technologies that promote the best interests of our users.” 

“The team's mission is to develop privacy-protective and innovative approaches to data and our services that help bring the world closer together and improve people's lives. In this role, you'll help shape the company's approach to privacy across our suite of products and services.”

“A strong candidate will be familiar with privacy and fairness issues related to social media platforms and messaging services.”

The chosen candidate should have “8+ years of experience with privacy, data security, or technology policy issues (5+ years with advanced degree in relevant field)” in addition to a Bachelor's degree.

City of Philadelphia | SmartCityPHL Data Fellow [Philadelphia]

City of Philadelphia is hiring a full-time Philadelphia-based SmartCityPHL Data Fellow, a new role that “supports implementation of the SmartCityPHL Roadmap through the development of a master data policy.” 

“In a time of big data, AI and innovation, cities need to maximize the opportunities for smart, equitable and inclusive progress. Data is the backbone of smart city solutions and the pandemic has made clear the need for the City of Philadelphia to accelerate its digital transformation.”

“As the Data Fellow, you will support the SmartCityPHL program that sits within the City’s Office of Innovation & Technology as it develops a Master Data Strategy and establishes a network of collaboration and policies through engagement of stakeholders.”

They’re seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree, and the salary range is $55,000 - $65,000.

Institute for Security and Technology | Senior Cyber Director [San Francisco, CA / Remote]

Institute for Security and Technology is hiring a full-time Senior Cyber Director based in San Francisco, CA (Remote is possible). 

“The ideal candidate will possess technical knowledge and a background in national security policymaking, high-level information security concepts, risk assessment methodologies, and integration of security practices.”

“Your role will be to direct and grow the broad cybersecurity portfolio at IST. Our goal as a 501c3 nonprofit is to bridge the gap between cybersecurity experts, private sector, civil society, and government agencies to improve collaboration and progress in the cyber ecosystem internationally.”

The ideal candidate will have a “[m]inimum of 6-8 years of leadership experience in national security, politics, government, or industry working on technology or technology policy” with an “[a]dvanced degree preferred”

The salary range for this role is $100,000/yr - $140,000/yr.

Facebook | Associate General Counsel, Technology, Civil Rights Organization [Multiple Cities]

Facebook is hiring a full-time Associate General Counsel, Technology for their Civil Rights Organization, based in either Menlo Park, CA, Washington D.C., or San Francisco, CA, to serve as the Technology expert in the Civil Rights Organization.

“As a member of Facebook’s new Civil Rights Organization, you will play a key role in supporting Facebook’s ongoing efforts to ensure that significant company decisions are made through a Civil Rights lens. You’ll serve as a pivotal team member and a direct resource for many teams across the company. In particular, you’ll help the Civil Rights Organization address how civil rights intersects with technology (such as virtual reality and facial recognition), specifically with respect to algorithms, machine-learning and artificial intelligence.”

They’re seeking a candidate with a “J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) with membership in at least one U.S. state bar” plus “8+ years of attorney experience.”

The National Endowment for Democracy | Assistant Program Officer, Center for International Media Assistance [Washington, D.C.]

The National Endowment for Democracy, “a federally funded, private, nonprofit grantmaking organization that works to support freedom around the world,” is hiring an Assistant Program Officer for the Center for International Media Assistance.

“The Assistant Program Officer works as an integral part of CIMA within the overall framework of NED and is responsible for components of the CIMA mission, including partnership development, project coordination, and knowledge management. The successful candidate will also contribute to other CIMA functions, including report production, event management, and strategic outreach.”

They’re seeking a candidate with the following qualifications, among others: “Bachelor’s degree required; advanced studies or graduate degree preferred; 2+ years of relevant work experience in international development or democracy assistance programs, with experience in international media development preferred.”

Twitter | Analytical Linguist, Human Computation [Multiple Cities / Remote]

Twitter is hiring a full-time Analytical Linguist, Human Computation for a 12-month contract, based in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, or Remote.

“The Human Computation team’s goal is to streamline production of high-quality labeled data and context-based insights & measurement, in support of Machine Learning, offline metrics, and all other human-in-the-loop initiatives across Twitter. Our work directly impacts the quality and consumption of our most popular products, helping to prevent the abuse and misuse of Twitter, and delighting our global user base.”

“The ideal candidate is someone who has experience designing and building human evaluations in support of data acquisition/annotation and error analysis projects for ML & more.”

Among other requirements, Twitter is seeking a candidate with the following experience: “BA or BS in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, or relevant in-depth experience in the field,” plus “1-2 years of experience with Human Computation/human-in-the-loops systems, large scale data extraction and analysis, ML/AI Data strategy & operations, and crowdsourcing. 1-2 years of experience drafting human evaluation guidelines and refining those based on experiments & research.”

Stanford HAI | Postdoctoral Fellows (2), Digital Economy Lab [Stanford]

The Stanford Digital Economy Lab (S-DEL) at Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI) is currently seeking two (2) Full-Time Postdoctoral Fellows to begin as early as winter 2021 and end in June 2024.

“Both positions will focus on key topic areas related to the digital economy,” falling under one of the S-DEL’s 5 key research areas: AI & The Future of Work, Measuring the Digital Economy, Data-Driven Decision-Making and Management Practices, Economic and Productivity Impacts of COVID-19, and Digital Platforms.

They’re seeking a candidate who is a “h]ighly motivated postdoctoral researcher(s) with extensive experience in (1) data processing, data analysis, and econometrics; and (2) familiarity with and interest in the literatures on innovation, organizational economics, and/or business strategy.  Must be able to work well with academics and industry executives alike. English language skills (verbal and written) must be strong. Ph.D. in Economics or a Management Science field.”
