Ada Lovelace Institute | Senior Policy Advisor [London]

Ada Lovelace Institute is looking for a London-based (partial WFH) Senior Policy Advisor with a starting salary of £41,000 per annum (negotiable dependent upon experience) for 35 hours per week. The closing date for this job is August 4th.

“The Ada Lovelace Institute (Ada) is hiring a Senior Policy Adviser, which will sit at the intersection of policy research, public policy, law and regulation, and public affairs. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join and help develop a rapidly growing dynamic and energetic organisation working at the intersection of technology and society on some of the most pressing policy and technical challenges. OpenAI | Safety Analyst (contractor) [Remote]

OpenAI is hiring a remote Safety Analyst in a part- or close-to-full-time contractor capacity for a three-month term, with the possibility to convert to full-time or extend longer upon mutual interest.

Safety Analysts will be “reviewing go-live safety information from developers and assessing the applications they have built against OpenAI’s use-case guidelines, safety best practices, and acceptable terms of use.”

“You might be a good fit for this role if you: Are passionate about the OpenAI API and are excited to learn more about how developers are building atop the platform. Are strongly motivated by doing the right thing and ensuring that OpenAI keeps its deployment of the API safe and beneficial, while also attempting to provide the best possible experience for its developers. Are thorough and detail-oriented, and comfortable making sense of large amounts of written and audio-visual information, especially in spreadsheet or database form. Are conscientious and self-directed, with excellent judgment about which tasks to handle independently and which are deserving of further escalation. Are an excellent communicator (fluent in English), capable of synthesizing complicated information into concise pieces understandable to those with less context.”

Data Pop Alliance | Data Scientist - Computational Social Scientist (Sub-Saharan Africa / MENA region)

Data Pop Alliance is hiring a Data Scientist - Computational Social Scientist for remote work (based in Tunisia, Senegal, or MENA region, preferred) for a 3-month trial period with longer-term contract to follow, based on performance.

Australian Government, eSafety Commissioner | Manager, Online Safety Tech and Futures [Melbourne, Sydney, or Canberra]

Australia’s eSafety Commissioner is hiring for a full-time Manager, Online Safety Tech and Futures, based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Canberra. The salary range is $122,689 to $145,134 plus 15.4% superannuation.

“eSafety is the world’s first government agency solely dedicated to tackling online abuse and keeping its citizens safer online...In this role, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated and highly skilled team that is focused on driving forward eSafety’s responsible technology agenda. You will build eSafety’s technical expertise in safety technologies, features and products – and provide the technical, research and horizon-scanning capabilities to ensure that eSafety remains both proactive and responsive to rapidly evolving online safety trends, issues and challenges. You will also provide oversight of eSafety’s world-leading Safety by Design initiative.”

“Our ideal candidate will have extensive subject matter expertise of the governance, architecture and standards of the Internet, as well as the structure, protocols, systems and capabilities employed by online services and platforms – and developers and vendors of safety technologies.” The closing date for this position is August 11.

New_Public | Partnerships & Operations Lead [Remote] 

New_Public is hiring a full-time remote Partnerships & Operations Lead for “managing the day to day operations of New_ Public as well as cultivating relationships with our partners," with a salary range of $80-95,000.

TikTok | Product Policy Manager, Suicide Self Harm Dangerous Act (SSHDA) [Singapore]

TikTok is hiring for a Singapore-based full-time Product Policy Manager, Suicide Self Harm Dangerous Act (SSHDA). 

“As a Product Policy Manager, you will become an expert on safety issues such as Child Safety, Hate Speech, Bullying, etc., and understand the impact of technology, media, and cultural trends on these different safety issues. You will be part of a global and regional team, ensuring that our policies safeguard the safety of our users and platforms.”

They’re seeking a candidate with academic background in public policy, law, or related experience; significant experience in policy, policy enforcement, or public policy, specifically in technology/social media/content; and experience with international Internet/social media/content issues.

Salesforce | Sr Manager/Director of Product Management, Einstein Bots [San Francisco, CA / Palo Alto, CA]

Salesforce is hiring for a full-time Senior Manager or Director of Product Engagement for Einstein Bots based in San Francisco or Palo Alto.

Anti-Defamation League (ADL), Center for Technology & Society | Senior Engineer [Remote]

Anti-Defamation League (ADL)’s Center for Technology & Society is hiring for three remote full-time Senior Engineers.

“ADL's Center for Technology and Society (CTS) focuses on stopping hate online, working with platforms, legislators, other nonprofits, and people everywhere. Some of our recent work includes reports on online hate and harassment, safety in social gaming, and social media holocaust denial policies. One of our major projects is the Online Hate Index (OHI), a tool for measuring all types of hate across the internet, especially social media platforms. Another is to do data-driven reporting and journalism using our tools, including recent reports on pandemic-related anti-Asian hate and the digital experience of Jewish lawmakers.”

“As a member of the CTS team, you’ll collaborate closely with our product manager, ML experts, designers, researchers, and your fellow engineers to iteratively deliver tools and features to aid ADL staff, customers, and partner organizations in detecting, measuring, and remediating online hate.”

They’re seeking an applicant with 3+ years of experience building and shipping production software.

Center for Humane Technology | Digital Manager [Remote]

Center for Humane Technology is hiring for a remote full-time (following a 90 day trial period) Digital Manager.

“As a key member of our communications team reporting to our Chief Communications Officer, our Digital Manager will lead the execution of CHT's digital strategy across website, email, and social media. You are an experienced communicator and marketer who’s a humanist at heart. They’re seeking a candidate with 3+ years experience with the following: directly running social media, email, and website in a for-profit, non-profit, in house, or agency setting, ideally cultivating community/audience/brand, design, video, and/or creative for social media, email, website, authentically reaching and engaging diverse audiences, driving growth and tracking analytics. U.S. Bank | Fair and Responsible Banking Director of Strategic Assessments and Reviews [Minneapolis, Remote]

U.S. Bank is hiring a full-time Fair and Responsible Banking Director of Strategic Assessments and Reviews based in Minneapolis (remote welcome as well). 

“The Fair and Responsible Banking Director of Strategic Assessments and Reviews within the Fair and Responsible Banking Division (FRBD) reporting directly to the Fair and Responsible Banking Officer, is responsible for risk management and compliance oversight of the anti-discrimination provisions of applicable fair lending laws and regulations (primarily Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Regulation B, Fair Housing Act) and prohibitions related to unfair, deceptive or abusive acts or practices (UDAAP) in support of the enterprise-wide Fair and Responsible Banking Program. This position will lead a team responsible for completing risk assessments, control design adequacy reviews, third party reviews, model(tool) reviews, and reviews of social media/digital and other customer targeting criteria.”

They are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s Degree and 15 or more years of experience in an applicable risk management environment.

Spectrum Labs | Speech Scientist [Remote]

Spectrum Labs is hiring a remote full-time Speech Scientist. 

”Spectrum Labs is looking for a Speech Scientist with a strong machine learning background with a focus on modern speech recognition technologies to help build industry-leading audio and voice moderation tools. The candidate will work with talented peers to develop novel algorithms in speech recognition and language understanding. Some of the tasks will include processing voice conversations, discerning sarcasm, and understanding intent from spoken language in a variety of acoustic environments.”

They’re seeking a candidate with a PhD or equivalent Master’s Degree in CS, CE, ML or related field; or equivalent experience with specialization in speech recognition, plus strong programming skills with working knowledge of C++ and Python 3+ years of experience in building end-to-end neural network based ASR, 3+ years of experience with Deep Learning frameworks and libraries: PyTorch, TensorFlow, and ONNX, and 2+ years of experience training distributed deep learning models on GPUs.

Digital Catapult | Responsible AI Manager [London]

Digital Catapult is seeking a full-time London-based Responsible AI Manager.
