For Immediate Release
New York, New York--All Tech Is Human, an organization committed to informing and inspiring the next generation of responsible technologists and changemakers, announced today that NYU’s Alliance for Public Interest Technology will serve as its education partner for the release of its upcoming guide to the responsible tech field.
In partnership with the NYU Alliance for Public Interest Technology, NYU’s global center for research and thought leadership on the responsible and ethical creation, use and governance of technology in society, All Tech is Human recently released its Guide to Responsible Tech: How to Get Involved & Build a Better Tech Future as a free resource. The “Responsible Tech Guide” is a free resource aimed at college students, grad students, and young professionals looking for inroads into the growing field of responsible tech. Pressing issues, including misinformation, algorithmic bias, facial recognition and many others, have heightened the need for a new crop of dynamic, interdisciplinary thinkers. The guide provides a comprehensive overview of the topics, organizations, and careers emerging in the responsible tech space, allowing readers to explore the many ways to contribute to the development of humane technology. The guide is now live at ResponsibleTechGuide.com
The Need for a Responsible Tech Guide
The Guide to Responsible Tech: How to Get Involved & Build a Better Tech Future offers a comprehensive exploration of the responsible tech landscape, identifying critical educational opportunities, organizations, and advice for students and young professionals on charting a path into the tech ethics field. More specifically, the guide showcases a variety of mission-driven organizations (Center for Humane Technology, Partnership on AI, AI4ALL), as well as major companies (Facebook, Twitter, Spotify, Accenture, Deloitte, Google, Salesforce) increasing their presence in the responsible tech space. Readers will also gain insights from the Architect of Ethical AI Practice at Salesforce, a Responsible AI Data Scientist at Accenture, the Director of Responsible Innovation at Facebook, and a Senior Data Governance Analyst at The New York Times, among other trailblazing tech professionals.
Additionally, readers can explore around 100 interviews that introduce the passionate and innovative individuals leading the movement. The guide was developed by a team of over 30 volunteers who recognize both the promises and perils of social media and emerging technologies, and remain dedicated to better aligning the development and deployment of technology with human values.
Since its founding in 2018, All Tech Is Human has held a number of ethical tech summits across the United States in New York City, San Francisco, and Seattle. Each summit revealed a growing body of individuals eager to become involved with responsible tech, yet unclear as to what skills, knowledge, or organizations might allow them to do so. In other words, there are thousands of people waiting on the sidelines, looking for a way to participate. We hope the Guide to Responsible Tech will bridge this gap in clarity and knowledge, and empower the next generation of ethical technologists and changemakers to step with confidence into the world of responsible tech.
